I am an international student. Do I need Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)?

Question:

I am an international student. Do I need Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)?

Answer:

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) requires all international students and their families (on student dependent visas) to have medical insurance while they are residing in Australia.

As a student visa holder you are required to have a valid OSHC for the full length of your visa. If you are granted permission to extend your course, you will need to arrange for additional cover.
