What help is available for students who have a disability?

Question:

What help is available for students who have a disability?

Answer:

Experiencing disability or ongoing ill health can significantly disrupt the educational attainment. 'Reasonable adjustments' are a form of individualised support provided by Macquarie University for students with disabilities to enable their participation in education on an equal footing with other students, in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act and the Australian Disability Standards for Education (Commonwealth of Australia 2005).

Examples of reasonable adjustments able to be arranged by Campus Wellbeing can be found here

Reasonable adjustments can take some time to put into place. Students are encouraged to contact the Disability Service as soon as possible. Reasonable adjustments will be put in place once a student has met with a Disability Assessment Advisor and provided supporting documentation.
