I am a permanent resident and was previously an international student. Can I submit an online eCAF?

Question:

I am a permanent resident and was previously an international student. Can I submit an online eCAF?

Answer:

No. It is necessary for a student to provide documents proving their change of residency status to the University along with a Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP form where necessary. As such , students can not fill out this eCAF online.

In order for your change of residency to take effect for your current study period,  you must provide proof of your residency change along with the required forms by the relevant study period census date.

A change of residency will result in your fees being considered either a Domestic Fee Paying student or a Commonwealth Supported student (based solely on the course you are doing. All Bachelor degree courses are Commonwealth Supported). To determine which type of course you are in please click here. You can lodge this form at our Student Connect Office located at the MUSE Building C7A Level 2.

If you are in a Commonwealth Supported course you will also need to lodge a HECS-HELP form. You can complete this at Student Connect at the same time you lodge your change of residency documents and the University will process all necessary updates.

Once your residency has been updated and HECS -HELP form approved, fees for future units will be assessed based on your permanent resident status. If you do not hold a permanent resident (humanitarian) visa then you will be required to pay these fees to the University. If your are a humanitarian visa holder then your fees will be deferred to the Australian Taxation Office if:

* you provide a Tax File Number to the University in your HECS -HELP form: or

* you complete a FEE-HELP application (if you are a Domestic Fee Paying student).

You can submit an online enquiry if you require further information.
