Can I take an external unit in my degree? How do I enroll in a unit externally?

Question:

Can I take an external unit in my degree? How do I enroll in a unit externally?

Answer:

Undergraduate students who are enrolled internally in a Macquarie degree can take one or more units externally if the unit is offered in external mode. You can check whether units are offered externally in the Undergraduate/Units/Units by Offering section of the Handbook at: http://www.handbook.mq.edu.au/

Students (other than Law students) can enroll themselves in units externally on eStudent by changing the availability of the unit to external (after the unit has been added onto their study plan). If you have already enrolled in the unit internally and wish to switch to external, you need to withdraw from the unit via eStudent and re-enrol selecting the external attendance mode within your study plan.

*Please note that you may not be able to complete your entire program externally.

**Please also note that law students cannot enroll themselves externally. If you are a law student, please contact Macquarie Law School for further information

***International students must seek permission to enroll in units externally from Student Advocacy and Support. Please see the following website for more information: http://www.mq.edu.au/study/starting-at-macquarie/travel-planning-and-arrival/student-visa/visa-conditions
