As an International Student, can I work while studying? Are there any conditions for working?

Question:

As an International Student, can I work while studying? Are there any conditions for working?

Answer:

As a student visa holder you can

  • Start working once you have commenced your course at Macquarie University.
  • Work for 40 hours per fortnight while your session is in progress.
  • Work for unlimited hours during recognised breaks offered by Macquarie University.

Work undertaken as a registered component of your course of study or training is not counted towards the 40 hours limitation.

Your family members

  • Can start working after you have commenced your course.
  • Are allowed to work up to 40 hours per fortnight at all times.
  • May work unlimited hours if you have commenced a Masters by Coursework degree or Master by Research degree.
