Question:

I'm an Australian citizen and I have received an undergraduate offer to study at Macquarie University. As I'm paying my fees up-front, why do I have to submit a Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP form?

Answer:

All students in Commonwealth Supported places must complete a "Commonwealth Assistance and HECS-HELP form" before they are able to enrol in units. The Commonwealth government provides a subsidy to the University for all units undertaken in the course. The University will charge you a reduced fee for each unit (ie the cost to the University to run the unit less the subsidy). You must complete a HECS-HELP form in order for the University to receive the subsidy and be able to charge the reduced rate to you for the course.

You can complete the HECS-HELP form online from your eStudent account. Please log into eStudent and select the "My Offer" menu to do this.
