How do I make a request for Special Consideration? (previously Disruption to Studies)


If you feel you have been disadvantaged due to an event or illness and have not been able to reach your usual demonstrated performance level, you can request Special Consideration.

Your notification will be assessed for further support if it is of a “serious and unavoidable” nature and it disrupted your ability to perform an assessment activity. Students can submit evidence or supporting documentation as clarified in the Special Consideration Supporting Evidence Schedule. The intent of this change is to provide an easy way to notify of all potential disruptions and gain consistent support.

To submit a Disruption to Studies notification, you will need to:

1.  Log in as a Current Student at
2.  Click 'Disruption to Studies' from the 'Submit' menu on the left
3.  Fill in the required fields as prompted. Once you have completed filling out the information, please click on 'Submit'

You will be required to upload supporting documentation electronically after you have submitted the form. All supporting documentation must be submitted electronically within 5 working days. NB: you will receive an automated receipt email after submission to your Macquarie University student email account.


Please note:  the relevant Faculty Student Centre process your Special Consideration request and can provide advice on the progress of your request and/or the outcome.
