If I obtain Permanent Resident status whilst I am studying at Macquarie will there be a change to my residency?

Question:

If I obtain Permanent Resident status whilst I am studying at Macquarie will there be a change to my residency?

Answer:

If you change your immigration status and gain Australian Permanent Residency status or Humanitarian Permanent Residency, please notify Student Connect Services.

You will be eligible for local fees for any census date that falls after you provide us with the appropriate proof of change of residency.

If you are applying for a new course, then International students obtaining Australian Permanent Residency may also need to re-apply for entry into certain programs as a local student.

To complete this Residency change, you will be required to complete the forms below found at the Student Connect Services:

    •    complete a 'Notification of Residency Change of Status' form (to become a Commonwealth Supported student)  AND

  •    complete a Request for Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP form  if you are coming into a Commonwealth Supported course

OR

•    complete a 'Notification of Residency Change of Status' form (to be a Domestic Fee Paying student)   if you are coming into a Domestic Fee Paying course

Please submit either forms and a photocopy of your passport/visa subclass  to the Student Connect Services in the MUSE Building C7A, LEvel 2.

You can submit an online enquiry if you require further information.
