I am an international student. Can I study part-time?

Question:

I am an international student. Can I study part-time?

Answer:

As a student visa holder you are required to complete your course within the time frame reflected on your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

To complete your degree within the duration of your CoE

  • Enrol as a full time student in a compulsory study period. Generally, you would be required to enrol in 4 subjects.
  • As an undergraduate student enrol in 12 credit points and as a postgraduate student enrol in 16 credit points in a compulsory study period.

The Department of Immigration will only allow students to extend their visa in very limited circumstances and for reasons which must be documented. Students who experience either academic or compassionate difficulties may be eligible to request to reduce their enrolment load.

To seek permission to reduce your study load, complete a "Reduce Study Load" form through AskMQ before the end of week one of the commencement of classes.
