How does participating in a PACE International activity benefit me personally? What do I get out of it?

Question:

How does participating in a PACE International activity benefit me personally? What do I get out of it?

Answer:

At Macquarie, you have the opportunity to develop a range of interpersonal, personal, social and cognitive capabilities. Through PACE, (Professional and Community Engagement), these capabilities come to life in real-world contexts found in local, regional or international settings.

PACE International activities give you a chance to experience the world up close and personal. You will experience first-hand what it’s like to be part of a community with cultural norms different to your own. You will be exposed to some of the key social, environmental, business and ethical challenges in today's world and will see how leading organisations and business are tackling them. All the while, you will become a more engaged and ethical local and global citizen while you work and live alongside local communities and learn from their experiences and knowledge.

By undertaking a PACE activity you will also learn to:

  • work with others and develop effective communication skills
  • understand elements of professional and personal judgment and initiative such as juggling competing priorities and recognising your own strengths and weaknesses
  • engage with what it is like to be part of a work place and all it encompasses

No matter what you do on your activity, as long as you dedicate yourself to the work your PACE International activity will be the experience of a lifetime.
