Do I need to inform the university if I want to change to part time study?

Question:

Do I need to inform the university if I want to change to part time study?

Answer:

Domestic students are not required to inform the university if you wish to study part-time. A part-time study load is the equivalent of 5 or fewer units for the year, or 1 or 2 units for each session. You can simply enrol into a part-time study load on eStudent.

Note:  A  reduced study load for Domestic students may make them ineligible for transport concession.  You can find out more about eligibility on the Transport Concession page.

International students subject to student visa requirements are required to study a full-time load of usually 4 units per main session. Find out more information about student visa requirements.

If you are a student visa holder and are experiencing academic difficulties, or situations which are considered to be compassionate or compelling, then you may be eligible to reduce your study load.

To make a request:

  • Submit the "Reduce Study Load" form through AskMQ before the end of week one of the commencement of classes.
Please be aware that a reduced study load may:
  • Result in an extension of your course duration.
  • Require you to renew your student visa if your current visa duration does not cover the extended period.
