Lost Items Off Campus
If you have lost personal items outside of the university grounds (such as a phone or wallet) please visit or call your nearest Police Station to ask if it has been found. We recommend you visit/call the Police Station closest to where you lost the items.
If a stranger calls you saying they have found your lost items, we strongly advise you NOT to meet them, ask them:
- to hand your items in to their closest Police Station for you to collect and,
- what Police Station this would be
A Police Station is the safest option for you and more convenient as they are open 24hours.

Lost Property Process
- If a member of the public contacts Macquarie to advise they have found property belonging to a student they are advised to hand the items in to Macquarie University Security as the first option, or the nearest Police Station. Students can then collect their lost items in a safe manner. For privacy and security reasons we do not provide student contact details to the member of the public nor do we advise students to meet members of the public to collect their items.
- Lost property is usually held by Security for approximately 3 weeks, but it is always worthwhile to contact them in case the item is still there.
